Hi Judy,
I'm helping a professor who's emailing a document back and
forth with a colleague. When he receives the document
back, the colleague's changes don't show up in a different
color. He selected "Color by author."
Which versions of Word are involved in this document
exchange?
If one renames Normal.dot on the professor's computer to
NormalOLD.dot, then starts up Word you'll get a new document
that's "installation clean". Type some text in this new
document, then turn on track changes and make some changes.
Now change the name and initials in Tools/Options/User Info
and type in some more text. Does the color change? If it
does, then you've narrowed the problem down to knowing it's
not the proferssor's installation.
Ask the colleague to please do the same. If the colleague
also has no problems with his/her new, test document then the
problem is likely either:
1. The "real" document is slightly damaged, structurally
2. There's a communication problem between the versions of
Word the people are using
