I turned of my Windows XP last night and tried to turn it back on this
morning. Now it will not turn on. The monitor still works, but the tower
does not.

Please help.

If nothing at all happens when you press the power button then it's a
hardware problem. Check and make sure that the power cord is properly
connected at both ends and make sure that there is power at the outlet.
If that is not the problem then the power supply unit may have failed,
you will have to have the computer services by a competent technician.

Do you have any ideas on what may have casued this or how much it will cost
to have it fixed?

John can hardly tell that long distance--the cost to repair it will depend
on what's wrong and how much the person you choose to repair it will charge
to replace whatever part(s) have failed. It might be a power supply which
is fairly cheap and easy to replace or it could be a mobo and power supply
in which case the computer may be beyond repair if it is three or more years
old (cheaper to buy new considering the age of the remaining parts).

It's impossible to tell without the system on a bench in front of you. It
can be the power supply, or the motherboard, the processor, or any of a
number of other components.

What's most of value on the system, though, is most likely the data. And
as long as the drive still works, you should *easily* be able to recover all
the data just by attaching it to another XP system and copying the files
off.
