Totaling all values in a column and showing the results.

I have a Access 97 DB. I have a quantity column. I want to
add all the values in this column and show the total on a
report or a query. The "help" is not helping. Can some one
please try to help the helpless?
 
Add a text box to the Report Footer (NOT Page Footer) with a control source
like:
=Sum([YourNumericField])
