Total Row to Sum a Column

I created a query in the design view, which displays accounts with a column
for Principal Balance. I need to insert a Total Row at the bottom of the
query results containing the sum of the Principal Balance column. I need to
see the detail records & the totals at the bottom at the same time. How do I
modify the query to obtain this result?

You could use the footer of a report
OR
use a totals query as part of a union query.
