I was wondering whether it's normal if my Toshiba DVD-ROM balks at
playing a few of my commercial music CDs. When the tray closes it
starts grinding away trying to read the data, or it gets past that
stage but when Media Player comes up it doesn't show any tracks to
play. These are undamaged discs, under 70 minutes in length. One is a
hybrid SACD disc. It plays most other discs fine. My other optical
drive is a Plextor 708A and it's played everything I've thrown at it
in the 2 weeks that I've had my new homebuilt.
So, is it normal for some drives to have a bad reaction to certain
CDs, or is this Toshiba model in particular known for being balky, or
is it just defective?
Thanks for any input.
