Toshiba Satellite laptop CD rom issue

Hi new to laptops actually and ordered a used one, got in mail
attempted to use cdrom, not working, took out put in and nothing
again yet light will light if I try to open it. device manager
working yet when i go to control panel, click to open cd it says
device not accessable PLEASE HELP I need this for school :crybaby:

Does it have a guarantee or warranty of any kind from the
seller? If so, take advantage of it. Optical drives don't
tend to break "in the mail" so seek some relief.

If you're desperate to deal with the problem you need more
hardware. Put a known working drive in, pull that drive out
and test it on a desktop system. Use adapters where
necessary.

Sounds like the drive is dead, though you might set the bios
to boot from it and throw a know-good bootable CDROM in to
remove Windows from the equation.
