Help guys....I have in my custody my cousins ancient laptop and what i need is a bigger HDD for it , preferably 20GB (it has 6.1Gb) .
He wants to put XP home on it (but its obviously not big enough), anyone know any good links pls

It is a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 series

Thanks Rush

550Mhz CPU, 64Mb ram ... sorry Rush, but a bigger HD ain't gonna run XP ... If it did, it would take two days to boot up. :D

I don't think you would even get Linux to run either. ;)

Rush, i suggest this weeks copy of Micro-Mart out on Thursday.
And trawl through the adverts for Laptop HDD's & RAM, best place & probably cheaper.:thumb:
You can run Win98SE on it though?

Like Mucks says it does take ages to load, but i connected a 802.11g card to it and it really is not too bad on wireless internet once online ....

I had a P233 with 32MB RAM running Win98SE & Win2000Pro prior to taking my A+ exams.
It was slow but still worked, well OK very slow in deed!
May i should not admit this:o

Sorry Feckit, but I believe the max ram, if you can find it (Crucial ?), is 300Mb or something ... the 64Mb is non removable.

Nope, dead project as far as XP is concerned. ;)

Quiet please...

we all start somewhere feckit :) , i remember frying my Girlfriends Pc by adding memory ..cost her £700 :p 10 years ago....She got over the shock...She`s now my Wife :)

64Mb is non removable.

gets worse then coz this has x2 dimms of 128mb and the above non-removable 64mb=300+ mb

Thanks Mucks :)
