I don't know the Toshiba brand exactly, but this answer goes for most
branded PC's:
On the motherboard, you need to find out if you have any jumpers to change
the clock speed. If you don't have these, I'd forget trying to change the
processor.
If you do have a jumper to change the clock speed, you need to find out how
to use it and what each jumper setting means. Now, some branded providers
will happily give you the information or have provided it in your PC's
manual, others won't give up the information, corporate secret locked in the
CEO's safe. (Don't ask me why, they just do.)
If you can get that far, then Toshiba will also have the information in
print as to what the maximum speed you can go up to is. If not, ask them.
I know with my Compaq, I have jumpers but Compaq won't release the
information to tell me what they mean and I can't find the origional
motherboard manafacturers manual any more, so I'm stuffed with processor
upgrades.
Dell on the other hand will tell me everything about my PC's so I am free to
upgrade those.
Hope thats helpful to ya.
