My apologies if this post is duplicated...

Hi,

I have a Toshiba satellite pro 6100 that has built in wifi. I have installed
windows 2000 and downloaded the latest drivers from the Toshiba support
site, however it does not seem to connect to the network, if you setup the
wireless card it says its connected to the nearest access point (netgear
me102) and that the signal is strong, so it must be working, however in
network neighbourhood the network connection has a red cross on it!
Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with it, or how to sort it??

Cheers

Ben

If your link is active, next check the workgroup settings of the system.
Make sure the workgroup name is spelled correctly and match the other
systems. Also make sure you can ping all the other systems by IP address.
Make sure you client is in the right ip range etc. Just check that type of
stuff to begin with.

Thanks, I've downloaded the update, but don't know if it'll fix it, as I got
so fed up I wipped it and started again, only this time using the original
toshiba repair cd, where as before I just used the windows 2000 install cd,
and it worked straight off! The repair cd just copies an image across. Only
trouble is it doesn't give you the option to format as ntfs, only fat32, but
it can be converted after by windows!

If I format and re-install again I'll try the update!

Trouble I'm having now is the unit powers itself down after a few minutes of
use, I think it's a known problem, as its been back to the toshiba repair
center 3 times already!

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben,

Try this Quickfix from MS Page. It should work after install.
Unfortunately the Quickfix is NOT included in the service pack.
