When i use the tools drop down menu in windows mail and open up the various
tabs the "accept" key or "Ok" key is missing - which prevents me from making
changes to my settings.

(i only learned of this when I tried to fix a problem with the email spell
checker following advice on this community to open tools and spelling. i was
able to see the languages but could not then accept the change - because the
accept key was not on view in the dialogue box. I tried to drag the box
around on screen to bring the accept key into view but could not).

Can you change the screen resolution to a higher resolution so that
everything is smaller and then move the dialog box to the center and then
change the resolution back again? Right click on the Desktop and choose
Personalize and then Display settings.

Thanks Steve my scheme resolution is already set to its highest setting -
1920 x 1200 pixels - but the boxes for accepting changes are not in view.--
I've tried dragging the dialogue box around the screen but am unable to bring
them into view.

Do you have any other suggestions please?
sean

I'm not sure what will fix that. Can you get to the title bar of the dialog
box? If you can click on that, then it should be movable.

steve

The box is movable - I can move it around. But the box is too big - so when I
drag it as far up to the top of the screen as I am able, the tabs for
clicking on "accept" changes still do not apear at the bottom of the box. I
only see 3 sides of the box - the top and left and right - I am unable to
bring the bottom of the box into view on screen.

You never responded to my suggestion of using the Tab key to
navigate to the desired button.

Hi Gary

My apologies for overlooking your reply.

When I first tried this I could not see anything happening. It did not
bring the boxes into view so I thought it was not helping.

However after your reminder I went back and tried again. Now I can see how
it helps. Thank you for an excellent suggestion.

Although I still cannot see the accept/Ok box, I can see how each click of
the tab key moves the curser down the screen through the various options,
highlighting each option. So I clicked through Tools/Options/Spelling and
selected for the computer to automatically spell check before sending an
email. Then when I clicked on Tab again until I thought it must have been
highlighting the accept/ok box - and then I clicked on return to accept the
change.

I then wrote a test email with typos in it and tried to send it. And the
system did an automatic spell check for me. Thanks for the suggestion Gary.
Although it has not brought the accept box into view it does give me a way of
making changes and getting my system to accept them.

Good to hear that my workaround did the trick.
It is a mystery why that window's lower half is off-screen on some computers.

I don't understand how the dialog box can be so large when you say you are
at the highest resolution.

Steve - I don't understand that either. I'm using a Dell XPS M1530 laptop
with a 15.4" widescreen WUXGA (1920 x 1200) TFT display (whatever that
means!) - so maybe its something to do with the widescreen. I don't know,
I'm not a computer wizz kid - more of a computer slow coach. I need my hand
holding a lot when it comes to computers.

All - Thanks guys for your answers and help.

You might contact Dell and ask them. It could be a driver issue or
something. I'm stumped.
