I have a very strange problem, and so far, I haven't been
able to find a similar problem in any of the message
threads. I'm running Windows XP, and I have two user
accounts set up on my computer (both as administrator).
On one account, the Internet explorer property pages are
normal, but on the other one (the one I use as a main
identity), the property pages are missing both
the 'Security' tab and the 'Advanced' tab, therefore
making it impossible for me to customize these features.
I have no clue as to how this happened in the first
place. I just noticed one day about two weeks ago.Has
ANYONE had a similar problem? or can anybody give me
advice on how to fix this? Thanks, Rob

Hi Rob,

They're AdvancedTab and SecurityTab restrictions, and you'll find them in either or both of the
following Registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

Go to Start > Run > Regedit, navigate to the above Registry keys, and delete the SecurityTab and
AdvancedTab DWORD values you'll find there.

In fact, if you find Control Panel Subkeys (Subfolders) at those particular locations, it's always
safe to delete them in their entirety, as they aren't there by default, and only serve for the
purpose of setting restrictions.

Alternatively, go to Edit > Find/Search, and do a keyword search for a SecurityTab value. If you
find one, delete it.
Do the same for AdvancedTab

NOTE: Before editing the Registry, ALWAYS back it up, or alternatively, in the case of Win ME or
XP, create a Restore Point.
