K kvreddy Jun 12, 2007 #1 How to find Tools/Folder Options/File Types/Advanced tab in windows vista? Thanks
R Ronnie Vernon MVP Jun 13, 2007 #3 Kvready This location has changed in Vista. Go to Control Panel/Default Programs, click the "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" link. This also works differently in Vista. Open Help and Support and search for "associate a file type." Click the first link in the results.

R Ramesh, MS-MVP Jun 13, 2007 #4 Unfortunately, MS has dropped the "File Types" dialog in Vista. See this blog post (especially the Comments section) for more information: Shell Blog : Managing Defaults in Windows: http://shellrevealed.com/blogs/shellblog/archive/2006/09/11/Managing-Defaults-in-Windows.aspx To change the default icon and other advanced settings for a file class, you need to edit the registry directly. Or you can use a third-party file type association tool to automate things.
