We have many workgroup templates that are used by lots of
secretaries. Each time that a template is accessed
certain toolbars are opened at the same time. Does that
mean that when the developer closed and saved the
template, her/she might have had un-necessary toolbars
open and they are just being displayed when the
secretaries use the template because of his leaving them
open?

We are using Word 2002 XP.

Thanks - I appreciate your help. I don't want to go to
them and complaint that they are doing something unless I
know what I am talking about.

Thanks for your help - Lorrie

Hi Lorrie

If a toolbar is saved within a template, then that toolbar will appear
whenever a document based on that template is created or opened. That
can be very useful, because the developer can create a toolbar with menu
items and buttons appropriate just for that template.

Alternatively, the developer might have included code in the template so
that a toolbar is created on the fly, by the code. It would then appear
whenever a document based on that template was created and/or opened.
And, depending on how tidy the developer was, the toolbar may disappear
when that document is closed.

So if the toolbars you are seeing are not there by design, then they're
there by accident. Go back to the developer and get him/her to change
the templates.
