Mike Coleman

My toolbars in Excel 2000 ( Office 2000) have disappeared.
ALSO menu items:Edit, Insert, Format, & Data are greyed
out and cannot be accessed.
Tried repairing through add/remove programs - no different.
No new workbooks or installed programs.
Can access options but nothing in options fixes it.
Can access View/toolbars but 'clipboard'is only toolbar
available.
Win 2k OS, 512 RAM, P111.
HELP!!

Hi Mike

Try this

Often this is a corrupt or bloated toolbar file
*normal* size is < 30 kb.
The .xlb file has all Toolbar customization in it.

Close Excel
Do a search for .xlb in windows
Rename the file you find (my file is named Excel10.xlb in 2002)
Start Excel

Deleting the file or renaming will do no harm on your system
Excel will create a new one for you.
(You lost your customization remember that)

If you make your own toolbars or add buttons to the others
This file is important (backup it so you can restore it)

Sorry ken,
The rename, delete & reset are greyed out on the toolbars
tab.

The loss of menu's is just as critical as I can't access
the edit, insert, format or data MENU's

Any other suggestions
Mike

Sorry to ask, but were any macros running before this happened? You said
no new workbooks, but what about old ones?
