Toolbar_vertical to horozontal?

My OS is Win2k (SP4)

My toolbar is currently unlocked. (no checkmark on the right click menu for
'lock')
I always used it in the vertical position but it unaccountably went
horizontal. I made no recent installations and I'm reasonably sure I'm virus
free.

Nothing in the 'Help' files or on this newsgroup tells me how to get the bar
back to vertical. I tried and experimented - attempting moves with the
mouse)

I do see suggestions for register edits in this newsgroup but before I go
there I'd like some experienced user to confirm that's my best remedy.

Blithe,
You have to grab the bar with a LEFT click hold and drag it
to where you want it... It will appear that it is not coming along
for the ride, but hold on to it until you get to destination and then
drop it... It might take a few tries to get this to work.
