My tool bar is docked and I have tried to move the tool
bar from the docked position by grabbing, reinstall of
powerpoint and complete install of Office but still
cannot get it to move. Any help will be apprecaited. I
want the tool bar on the side instead of across.

Toolbars are dockable/undockable by grabbing the toolbar handle (vertical
line at the beginning of the toolbar section). The cursor should change to
a four-way arrow when you are over the handle.

The placement settings are saved in a separate file, so re-installation of
Office will probably not change them.

You may want to reset them. Depending on your version of PowerPoint, click
View | Toolbars | Customize ... | {tab}Toolbars | Reset. You will loose
all your customization applied to the toolbars, but will get a fresh start.

Post back if this does not solve the problem.

Thank you for the quick response but it did not solve the
problem. I still cannot grab the bar when it changes to 4-
way arrow. This is the Task pane tool bar I am having
problem with. I followed the menu as you suggested but
the RESET button was grayed so I couldn't reset it.

When it changes to a 4 way arrow, are you pressing and holding the left
mouse button and then dragging at the same time?
