Toolbar problems

After I did the latest Windows update on July 12, my windows toolbar seemed
to have doubled the amount of windows opened. You know how after the divider
for quicklaunch, you have a list of windows that are opened? After that list
on the toolbar, there's another divider and mirrors the exact same "windows
opened" from the previous divider...

Can anyone help?

You may actually find that what you did has not actually fixed the problem.
I have had this problem for a while now (presumably after a Windows Update),
but it comes and goes without me doing anything to fix it.
The registry tweak you have used resets the taskbar to the default
configuration, but has not necessarily rectified the problem. You may find
that it will materialise yet again some time in the near future. I have had
it occur 3 times now in the last few weeks. Each time it went away after a
reboot.

For your situation, just keep the registry script you downloaded from
Kelly's site handy for when you next need it. For myself, it is a bit more
of a headache, as I have setup extra toolbars, so I don't want to have to go
back to the default each time and set it all up again.

This is yet another XP headache that I have learnt to have to live with
since moving over from Win98SE. XP may be more stable, but at least I can
use all my software on it. I also have to fight viruses and malware far more
on XP than I ever did on Win98. Sorry, I'll stop my ranting now.
