I cannot access toolbars in any of my folders. This problem cropped up
suddenly and I've no idea why. Tried everything possible that I can think of
to get them back but to no avail. Would appreciate any help.

(WindowsXP x64)

Thanks

Does Sysstem Restore Help if you done that?
Do you mean Taskbar or the Toolbar Menu on the Top?

I've done that but it didn't help. I've tried everything one can possibly
try...even tried restore point, but it says no changes so restore can't be
done.

I'm desperate to be able to do my work properly, so your suggestion was
appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry, meant to answer your other question re: Toolbar or Taskbar.
It's the toolbar menu at the top of folders. There is absolutely nothing
there, but a blue bar and icon...which can't be clicked or accessed except to
close or minimize.

Hi Cisherman,
Open Windows Explorer and click View >> Toolbars >> make sure these checked:
Standard Buttons
Address Bar
Lock the Toolbars
Or you can add them by using the Customize option!

Close the Windows explorer and Hit F5 to refresh, does it help?

Are you meaning the Toolbar in Windows Explorer?

View, Toolbars, and check Standad Buttons.

Many thanks for all the links, I've gone through a lot of investigation for
hours now.

Having done more problem determination...the problem occurs when I have
placed a shortcut to my desktop. When I launch a folder from my desktop the
toolbar, address bar etc. are all collapsed (3 bars at the top of the
window), I cannot open or access them, no matter what I try to do. Yet, if I
launch from inside Windows Explore Start Menu, the tree view comes up I can
access all toolbars.

Hope this additional information will be more helpful in helping me correct
the problem.

I've tried a couple of the fixes but sadly nothing has improved. This has
been a most troublesome problem, making work doubly hard and very time
consuming. If in the end there are no other possible venues for me to
try...I'm afraid, I'll have to do the long and arduous job of reformatting
the computer. So if there is anything else that might be a possibility,
please let me know.

Try Gerry's advise and see if that will fix it. If not try the link below on
how to create a new profile and test to see if that will work, if it did then
copy your data from the old Profile to the new one and delete it.

I am so grateful for your continued input and will give the latest link a
try, though it's a bit daunting for me to attempt. Will let you know how it
turns out. Thanks again!!!
