Hi,

We have a front-end .mdb application running locally on a number of
workstations, some of whom have a runtime version of Access 2000 installed
and some have Office full Office 2000 professional.

We upgraded the .mdb recently and copied onto all local drives. It works
fine on the Full Office workstations but on the run time workstations, it
reports an error "Cannot find the Toolbar DataTool".

All forms in the application share the same toolbar (DataTool). This
toolbar was present in the prior versions of the application and worked on
all machines. The toolbar was not modified for the new version.

Because it is the runtime version of access on the machines that are giving
the problem, I am unable to create the 'missing' toolbar.

Any ideas,

Diarmuid

Hi Diarmuid,

From your descriptions, I understood that your mdb files used to be able to
open in both Access 2000 and Office 2000 environment, However, you failed
to open it after your upgrade your mdb application. Have I understood you?
If there is anything I misunderstood, please feel free to let me know :)

First of all, I am not sure what upgrades you have done. Do you still have
the original one and could you still make it work on Access 2000 runtime?
Could you show me how to reporduce your problem on my machine? It is highly
appreciated that you could provide me sample mdb files for both the
original one and the modified one, which I could rely on to reproduce your
issue.

Secondly, based on my knowledge, build-in toolbars is not supported by
runtime, I think DataTool is your custom toolbars. Custom toolbars that you
create are specific to the Access data file. If you want to use a custom
toolbar in a different Access data file, you must re-create or import the
custom toolbar. So I want to know how did you build it? The following
documents will show you how to make it correctly by codes with VB :)

Moreover I think the following topics in the documents will be helpful to
you

concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are here to be of assistance!

Sincerely yours,

The problem seemed to be with using generating a 2000 mde from Office XP.
When we made the mde from a Office 2000 machine, there is no problem. All
solved now.
Thanks
Diarmuid
