THere is a rogue item in my Explorer toolbar which I want
to remove. Apart from removing the tick,,,how do
completely remove it and it's associated functions

What do you mean "in my Explorer toolbar"?
If you mean an item in your Tools menu in Internet Explorer, then try
this:

Use Regedit.exe and remove the item. It should be under here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions

If you mean something else, then can you please be more specific?

Alan,
You may be able to offer advice to me on a similar problem.

I have successfully locked down IE to how I need it for my
environment (mainly with registry edits in a logon script).
I got most of the registry keys from IEAK 6.1 ADM files
and Internet sites.
I need to be able to achieve two more tasks - Remove (or
grey-out) the "Toolbars" and "Explorer Bar" options from
the "View" menu (Or optionally remove the "View" menu item
all together).
I know it can be done because you can buy products with
tick-boxes that will do it for you.

Does you know any registry settings to achieve this ?

thanks,
Mark Lawrence

Mark,

I don't think I can, as I have not looked at such restrictions for
years and IE6 does not have all the restrictions of previous versions.
You can play in this key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions]
Try the values below from IE5:
NoBrowserBars Disables the browser bars.
NoToolBar Disables the toolbar

If no good, then post in a new thread as I am sure that someone here
will know.
