O.K., I feel like an idiot because I SHOULD know how to do
this, but I'm drawing a blank. I want to put a button on
the toolbar to open a specific document. How do I do so?
Thanks!

Tools>Macro>Record new Macr

Give it a name
Click on assign macro to toolbar
Drag the Normal.newMacros.MacroName on to the toolbar where you want the button
Click close

Record the process of opening the file and then press stop. Close Word and then the next time you go in press the new button and watch it open the required file

Make sure the file stays in the same location as that is where the Macro will look for it

Regards
Ash.

It's not exactly a toolbar button, but you might want to investigate the
Work menu if you are not familiar with it; this puts up to nine documents
just two mouse clicks away. See

First, look into the Work menu. http://addbalance.com/word/workmenu.htm or

If you still want to add a button you'll need to record a macro opening the
document and assign it to a button.
