Can you specify since you're making comparisons?
It applys to most areas. Just recently had a mate of mine fail to work
out how to make a data DVD with Nero, just because of the awkward
user interface. It can obviously do it, it just wasnt at all obvious how to
do it, as opposed to a video DVD, just fill the DVD with some files that
were on his hard drive that he wanted to get off the hard drive to get
the space back on the hard drive.
One rather bizarre problem I came across myself with an earlier
version was the wizard. If you cancel that because you did know
how to do what you wanted, it wouldnt show up again, which was
a problem if you later wanted to do something different. You can
turn it on again, but it wasnt at all obvious how to do that. It turns
out to be in the help menu, which has a sort of warped logic to it,
but isnt where anyone else has the wizard enable/disable. Thats
normally done in the Tools/Options menu.
And the distinction between Nero OEM and Express is awkward too.
Try to capture a single frame out of a dvr-ms video file and turn it into
a photo for example. Its certainly possible, but just not obvious at all.
Or turn a dvr-ms video file into an avi because DVD player supports avis
but not dvr-ms files. Certainly possible, but not that obvious how to do it.
And can you specify the versions of the software you're comparing in this
process?
Its been true over many generations of the software, currently
with NeroVision Express 3 and Nero Oem 6.6 and Roxio EMC 8
And thats another one, it isnt at all obvious where the version stuff
is with Nero, turns out to be an unlabelled button in SmartStart,
which has a popup that calls it Nero ProductCenter.
