Hi, i have just started using an old laptop that has windows 98 on it (it
doesn't say second edition on it anywhere i can see). i'm not sure what
version of outlook express it has on it because i cannot find out where to
determine that.

my problem is when i open a window to start a new email, it does not have
the toolbar with the 'Send' button on it. it has the bar with the F,
E,V,I,O,T,M, H on it though. on another pc with widows xp, if i go to the
T, i then have an option to bring up the toolbar which has the
'Send',cut, copy, past, delete, etc toolbar, which is the one i am looking for.
but on this old laptop when i go through those motions the send button
toolbar still does not appear.

could anyone explain how i can get that toolbar to appear please? since
without the send button i dont know how to send off emails. thanks. could
it be i have some virus of some kind?

In what window? What program?
What are you doing when you have this problem?
A normal IE6 window does not have a Send button on any of its toolbars.

Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM

when you go to OE 6 (which is the pc i am on at the moment, but i think is
essentially the same as regards to the set up ) and go to the toolbar which
has: create mail, reply, reply all , forward, etc icons in it and then
click on 'create mail' you then get a widow with a tool bar at the top that
has: send, cut , copy , paste, undo etc. this is the toolbar with that
essential 'Send' icon that is missing and it wont re-instate when i do a
right click on the toolbar place to re-instate it.

Right click the menu bar and click Toolbar to check (tick) it.

I can't think of any malware that causes this. First try F11 and then if
you want to check for malware:
