I Took a Second Drive out of one Computer and Put it in
this Computer and Now I Can't Access it at all.
If I goto Disk Management I Can See the Drive .
It has no Drive Letter assigned to it and it won't let me
assign a letter to it either.
Someone said it was because I had GOBACK installed on the
other computer it came out of.
I have files I need to get off of it before I kill it !!
HELP me get access to this Drive.
Is it something i have to do in DOS ???
Hope Not !!

Sounds like maybe a fat32 or earlier fat system can see the nfts partition
but still disallows access to it?

Right-click on the drive (not a partition) in Disk Management and choose
"import foreign disk". The post about filing systems is a total red herring,
file systems do not see each other, operating systems read filing systems!
Windows XP is fully able to read any FATxx, and NTFS as well as all the
CD/DVD formats.

You could buy and external case for the harddrive and hook it up via the
usb2 port or firewire port and extract the information needed. That way you
can kill two birds with one stone; extracting information off of old drive
and copying to new drive in one step. I have done this for other people and
use one as a backup for my system data files.
