How can I stop being sent so much spam?

Use a spam filter like Mailwasher and filter/delete the email's you don't
want at the ISP's email server before pulling the rest to the machine with
the email client program and forget about it.

Hey, don't use the *bounce* feature of MW as you'll be doing the spamming.

www.mailwasher.com

Duane :)

The sad news is that you can't. Once you are on a spammer's mailing list you
are stuck.

I suggest (as Duane has already) that you used a spam filter. Personally I
use spampal (www.spampal.org), which works very well and is free. No idea
how it compares with mailwasher.

Another approach is to occasionally abandon your e-mail address and use a
new one. This has obvious disadvantages but does mean that you can abandon
an e-mail address if you feel it is getting too much spam.

There are lots and lots and lots of people out there looking for the perfect
solution. Other than stomping on the spammers (which quite a number of
people are actively trying to do) there isn't an ideal solution to this
problem.

regards,

Brian.

You mean like cross-posting a topic such as this to News Groups where it is Off Topic ?

Note - Original unrelated groups list reduced:
from: uk.media.tv.twenty-four
alt.drugs.viagra
alt.comp.anti-virus
alt.comp.hacking.social-engineering.misc
to : alt.comp.anti-virus

Considering the groups to which you cross-posted you undetailed message,
your message is itself spam. So what does spam have to do with:

- Television.
- A limp dick.
- Viruses.
- Social engineering of a spam to con a reader to participate.

Nothing. Your off-topic cross-posted message submitted to UNRELATED
groups makes *you* a spammer! If you want to stop spam, start by not
spewing it yourself.

How can I stop being sent so much spam?

First, get a different email address and stop posting your address in newsgroup
messages.

Second, make the new address something other than a name to foil the dictionary
attacks.

Close down your old email account.

Change your e-mail address and/or use another ISP with its own mail server.

Don't give your e-mail address out to any commercial organisation or
people other than those you are familiar with or are entirely reputable.

Switch to using Netscape 7.2 as your browser which has its own email
platform (Netscape Mail), and faciilities to train it to recognise junk
mail accurately. In addition you can set up email filters in a variety
of ways, if you need to

If you still get the odd spam. don't ever open it. Just junk it, and
never reply to it or click on any links that are present.
