Mike

I've got a system running winxp. When I put in 4 sticks
of 512mb pc3200 memory it locks/reboots my system. My
motherboard can handle it (shows in the bios and works
fine in dos and unix) but it will not work with XP. My
memory tests fine, no issues there. When I remove one
stick (any of the 4) it runs fine, no problems.....
Im lost.....

thanks for any and all help

What difference does version make - all versions of XP can support up to 4GB
of RAM.

Did you install the latest mothrboard drivers for your motherboard? The
motherboard have several important controls that may have been
created/updated after the release of XP. Motherboard chipset drivers allow
users to update/add the control routines back into XP.

This may help (???).

Hi;
Check your motherboard manual.
==============
Memory acceptance and limitations
========================

A few boards will accept 4 sticks to 2gbs provided that they are pc2100,
pc2700. NOT pc3200.
They can
a) only go to 1.5 gbs with pc3200 in 4 slots
(as: 512, 512, 256, 256).
and/or simply
b) take only 3 pc3200 no matter what size (to 1gb each)
and run stable enough (for Win).
