Most demanding app is kids listening to music, other than that internet
browsing and spreadsheets are about as demanding a need for video.

Would like to get a video card for 50 bucks or less, but everything aimed at
gaming, please suggest a plain jane get the job done card.

Soltek SL75N2-RL, AMD 2500+, 512MB 3200DDR.
Thanks

Go to a used-computer-parts store or a swap meet and pick one up for $5.
It might be inapproprite, but it only cost $5.

As nice of a system as you're building, it seems kind of silly to me not to go with at least a
mid-range video card.

I think that mobo needs a 1.5V card.., which means reasonably new.

The cheapest way to go is get a motherboard with integrated video. It will
have sound and LAN too, and costs less than a motherboard without.

I agree....going with a low end card with that setup would likely lead to
dissatisfaction in the not too distant future...and you have kids so, games
are likely to become of interest. I'd suggest an ATI 9600 XT. It can be
had for < $200 and you get more than decent performance.
