Too many problems. I want to start again

I am having too many problems that I don't know how to
fix. ie everything has slowed down. error message when I
log off. I can't restore back far enough, as I re-
partitioned. I would like to start from scratch, but the
computor was preloaded with windows xp. Any ideas please.
In idiot lauguage only please.

If your PC did not come with a restore disk, there should be a restore
partition on the HD. Check the documentation that came with the PC to find
the instructions for a repair. If you don't find anything, contact the
vender/manufacturer of the PC.
Caution! Back-up any files before doing a repair install.

How large is your hard disk and how much free space? In Windows Explorer right click on your C drive and select Properties.

Download Adaware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ and use it to remove parasites.

How good is your housekeeping?

1. In Outlook Express empty your Deleted Items folder.

2. In Outlook Express run File, Folder, Compact All whilst OFFLINE.

3. Run Disk Cleanup. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk
Cleanup.

4. Run Disk Defragmenter.

You should investigate whether you have unnecessary programmes loading at start up / running in background. This a big topic. Start by telling us about the Norton products you are using. There are a number of potential areas of conflict.

Are you using Microsoft Office? If yes, which version?
