I finally found the answer to my networking woes - the
Macafee Firewall on my new xp pro pc. Now, after many new
network wizard runs on my old win98 pc, I have 9 network
printers that I don't know how to get rid of. It's not
hurting anything, but I hate excess bagage (:->}

Open the Printers and Fax folders, right click an undesired printer,
and click Delete.

However, by default, Windows XP automatically detects and installs
other printers that it finds on the network. To prevent that
behavior, click Tools | Folder Options | View and un-check
"Automatically search for network folders and printers".
