Too Many Mouse clicks

When using my mouse I click on something once it actually begins to behave like I've clicked the mouse many times so if I click on the "back" button instead of going back just once it goes back two or 3. I have run my virus scan and do not detect any virus'. I'm running windows xp pro and a logitech mouse.
 
Dirty mouse contacts or low battery if wireless.??? It could be just a bad
mouse.
