To whoever can help, recently bought JVC minidv to help in recording my little one growing up. Read an article regarding movie maker 2 how easy to use etc, etc. As the software with the JVC supplied isn't so straight forward, I headed straight for the MICROSOFT USER FRIENDLY program. Only to discover that it fails to extract from the camcorder as ' To many things firing at one time' error shows, the software then crashes. Please help I can't find any info to assist
Are you losing your touch Mr Gates, it used to be so straight forward

What model camcorder is it, and are you connecting via firewire or USB?

That model supports firewire transfer, the only way to get full digital
video (DV-AVI files) into the computer.... but you need a firewire capture
card and cable.

With the firewire connection, you should be able to capture directly from
the camcorder using MM2....

Your USB route is probably getting you highly compressed MPEG2 video files
and you don't have the codec needed for MM2 to use them.... so using the
supplied software to make another file that works with MM2 would be another
option, but more difficult and with less quality.

I share your angst. I have a JVC GR-DV500U. The stuff it saves to its DV tapes looks great on the TV, but getting it to a DVD or VCD is proving very difficult. I get the same "too many methods blah blah" message. I'm interested to know if you try the firewire deal, and if it works.
