Is this slightly ott ;-)

4 front in fans, 2 rear out, 1 blowhole out, 1 side in

8 so far then I have hsf, graphics card fan, and 2 in psu so that makes
12 then add 2 HardDisk coolers with twin cooler (4 fans)

That makes a total of 16!!

I could replace my psu with Super Flower Real 520w Quadruple Fan!!

That would take fan count up to 18 :-)

It's a challenge, but I'm down to 3 fans and they are all running at between
1500-1800 rpm which is near silent. I used a Zalman flower cooler for the
CPU. It also catches the RAM and the chipset because of the way it's
mounted. I replaced my GPU fan with the Zalman Heat Pipe and got rid of
that one. I only use one case fan at 1500 rpm blowing out the back and it
does just fine because I made sure none of the cables interfere with
airflow. I retrofitted my power supply with a quieter fan and reduced the
speed. It blows fairly warm air, so I think I'm at the limit there. Not
sure why you need the hard disk fans unless you have 10,000rpm drives and
are having a problem with them. I wanted to enclose my drive to make it
quieter and then just decided to replace the drive with a quiet drive and
leave it in the current mounting bracket. The current drive runs at 7.7W
at idle and 9.5W during seek which is pretty hot, but I haven't had any
problems with it.

I am pleased with the performance and MBM reports that my CPU temp has
dropped 5C since going to the Zalman heatsink and fan setup. Case temp runs
around 31C which is about 9C above room temp. Works for me.

Let me guess... You've got one of those loud "racing" mufflers on
your car too?

Maybe you could mount all of them blowing out...from the bottom of your
machine an see if you can get it to float up in the air like a Hovercraft!
You may be able to implement some software to controll the speed and with a
keyboard shortcut...get the whole machine to rise up so you would not have
to
lean over to put a cd in. <g>

Which begs the question: "Who IS the moron who decided that we no longer
wanted or needed our CPU ON TOP of the desk??" Why would anybody fork
out good money for a sharp, modded case and then hide it UNDER the desk?
With DVD ROMS, burners, CD games and such, WHY is it the defacto
standard to stick it on the *&^% floor??? Then, of course there is our
aging population. My parents who are in their late 70's are REALLY
having fun with inserting a CD while leaning out of a chair.
Sorry for the rant, but that IS a sore point for me. (As I happily
sit at my LARGE oak teacher's desk (10 dollar garage sale) WITH my
modded case ON it.) ;-Deano

I haven't had a PC on my desk since 1981.

Who said you have to put it UNDER your desk ??

Full tower beside the desk is the way to go.

More room on desk, out of the way, runs cooler, quieter, and CD drive and
floppy is at knee level.

Easier to work on when adding devices, too.

Best thing since sliced bread was introduced in 1929 . . . . that's right
1929.

Keep adding fans until your computer can hover in mid-air.

This is when you had to have a huge AT style case. Now with the smaller
mini-ITX cases it would be okay.
Why would anybody fork

Those decorative cases are rather ridiculous. An unobtrusive full tower case
is better, and it puts the DVD-ROM and CD-ROM at a more convenient level.
