Evry time I attempt to format anything on my worksheet the notation "too many
cell formats appears and I can't change the format.

The link below only helps if you get the error message when you are trying to
format a cell. What do you do if the message appears when you are trying to
open the workbook? I can't get into the file to eliminate some cell formats
if I can't even get into the workbook.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Tricky...If you are on a version pre XP try forwarding the workbook to
someone that has one of the later versions

That may work

Nick,

This worked!!! I didn't know of anyone with an Office version later than
2000, so I tried all kinds of other things, unsuccessfully. Finally, someone
in my IT department had Office 2003 and it opened the file and repaired it
automatically. Another Excel guru also recommended downloading Open Office,
a free program. Thanks.
