Too many connections...

I apologize if this is a common thread, but I couldn't find a post on this:

I have a couple of older servers W2K SP4 that a couple different admins
manage. On more that one occasion, open sessions have stayed open and the
boxes become inaccessible ( "The terminal server has exceeded the maximum
number of allowed connections" ). I know this is the way the license is set
up, but I'd like to find a way to end those sessions without trekking out to
the datacenter to logon locally.

Is there a way to reset the TS connections remotely? I don't care what the
sessions are, I just want them ended so I can get back onto the box.

The 2 boxes are not in a AD domain, they are stand alone servers. I know
it's not a flaw to disallow multiple connections, but I need to end dangling
connections and I don't appear to have much control over the server.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks, T

I don't know of any ways to clear the sessions remotely, however if you
retrain your admins it won't be a problem. Tell them to ALWAYS do
Start>Logoff. If they just click the "X" to close the session they get the
error msg stating the session and any programs will be kept open for them
when they log back in. This is more than likely what is happening.

I had a similar problem at my company and I told the 4 users to change their
logoff habits and the problem has not come back.
