I have IE 6 and XP SP2. When I click to open IE, it is taking
a very long time to open. Going to new pages after it is open
occurs properly. How do I speed it up to normal functioning?

.
Is your computer 'Detecting Proxy Server' during this
wait time?

I don't have "automatically detect settings" checked
in Internet Options. During this long wait time the
IE window has not yet opened.

Try changing your Home Page to About:Blank and put About:Blank
into the Restricted sites zone. Your symptom is often caused by
"spyware" trying to "phone home." If About:Blank is in the Restricted
sites zone they may not be able to use some of the security options
they need from the other security zones they need to exploit.

Good luck
