Does anyone know of a simple, freeware tone generator?

NCH Tone Generator will generate Sine Waves, Square Waves, Triangles,
Sawtooth, Impulse, and even White Noise through a whole range of
frequencies. The problem is that the current version, 2.0, is now shareware,
but an earlier version, 1.03 was free and is still available here (watch out
for word wrap):

As an alternative, Winamp had an old plug-in by Justin Frankel called
Nullsoft Tone Generator v.0.0. (in-tone.dll). It is very simple and
generates tones at a variety of frequencies. It works for sure on Winamp
5.01 and should work on 2.x. You can still find it here:

Free for noncomercial non ongoing (I guess this means medical) purposes.

Think is is very close to what you search for...

As a suggestion, try searching the Amateur Radio sites as they often need
programs like that themselves.

You will probably get a better response if you ask the question in one of
the ham radio newsgroups such as rec.radio.amateur.homebrew

There are lots out there.
