The users accounts on my win2000 fileserver have been
deleted but in actual fact they have been tombstoned
(hidden) for sixty days. I need to get them back, is
there anyway you can retreive tombstoned container files
in active directory on Windows 2000

Cheers

As you have not elaborated on your problem I am assuming that the objects
have been deleted

Please see below
Active Directory Tombstone Lifetime

When restoring System State, your recovery plan should take into account the
fact that the age of the backup tape should not exceed the Active Directory
Tombstone Lifetime (this is the length of time that deleted objects are
maintained in Active Directory before the system permanently removes them;
the default is 60 days). If a tape older than the tombstone is restored, the
restore APIs will reject all of the data as out of date. Backups must be
done on a regular basis.

but it may look like you will need to recreate the user objects in AD

please review and see if this helps

If you have a backup you can make a restore, but you must increase the
tombstone lifetime first. Otherwise the objects will be rejected.
If you need info on how to increase the tombstone lifetime, do a google
search for tombstone and my name and you'll find instructions.
