toggle button to start/stop sound in presentation

Hello,

I hope someone can help me figure this out. I've created
a presentation that has background music. The
presentation is meant to be viewed by a user (vs.
presented by a speaker) and I'm trying to figure out how
to get the presentation to automatically start playing
the background music loop (got this part figured out) and
include a toggle button that will allow the user to mute
the music and turn it back on. Can anyone help me? I'm
using PowerPoint XP version.

Mike, A piece of cake for PPT XP. (Well sort of)


First create three objects (rectangles or whatever you like) Label them
"Play", "Pause", "Stop".

Next, Insert your sound file. (Insert > Movies and Sounds > From File)
When it inserts the file you will be asked if you want to start it
automatically or when clicked. Choose which ever one fits your needs.

Now, right click the sound icon and then Custom Animation. This brings up
the animation task pane.

Use "Add Effect" and select "Sound Actions" Then select "Play". A second
instance of the sound file is now placed in the animation pane. Click the
down arrow and select "Effect Options", this opens the "Play Sounds" window,
select the "Timing" tab. From there select "Triggers"

Once the "Triggers" menu is open, select "Start Effect On Click Of" and then
select your "Play Button"

Finish up by doing the same for the "Pause" and "Stop" buttons you created.

There you go, ready for the big show.
