How do I update a table (one field) when running a report
without having to go back to the query and make it an
update query?
Thanks in advance.
Chris.

Tables store data, queries retrieve (and modify) data, reports display data.
I don't understand how you want a report to "update" data? If you provide a
description of what you are trying to do, rather than how, 'group readers
could offer alternate approaches.

More info, please...

The report or form? whatever will be more adequate, will
be based on a query which will show up blank data in one
field (data type: date), then this field will need to be
filled in with the current date. A form might be what I
need, with some command button that runs and updating
query in the background?
Thanks in advance.
Chris.

Now I even more confused. You are using terms I recognize, but I suspect
you and I don't mean the same thing by them.

Please describe what you want to accomplish, not how. Your description
below mentions forms and fields and queries and ... -- these are "how".

Tell me about the business need.

More info, please
