Do you own an ati 256mb 256bits ddr2 memory video card

Because i did some research and find out that there is a model of this card that posses ddr2
technology and would love to know if it make any real difference...

check-it out
http://tw.giga-byte.com/VGA/Products/Products_GV-R98P256D.htm#

Here it cost around 350$ for the one that got ddr1

And 634$ for the ddr2 one

if you have one of these could you post some number please...
FPS and more...

I get 5855 with a 9700 pro, what;s the problem?

AMD64 3200+
2x512 MB corsair platinum 3500
Gigabyte GA-K8VNXP
Herc 9700 Pro - VGA Silencer 3
SB Audigy

I get 6200 with a 9800 pro 128.

Extra memory doesnt make the GFX card faster. It just enables it to handle more data without
reloading midgame and causing missed frames. I get the 6200 score via some good overclocking
(430/370). Also, 256Mb cards have traditionally increased the memory capacity by decresing memory
quality (slower chips), so you might find that a 256Mb allows you to use ultra quality on Doom 3,
but runs slower in everything else.

DDR dual doesnt seem to do much in my mobo - the differences between slotting my 2x PC2700 512M
(well actually, 2 PC2100s that work well as PC2700!) as a dual or non dual seems to have little
effect on overall performance.... 2-4% max. So, I assume the effect on a GFX would also be in the
same ballpark in real tests - fine if you can get it for the same price, but not worth any extra
cash....

Extra quality means higher memory calculating and bandwidth, lower quality memory wouldn't let ddr2
module function properly under heavy heat gain that would require icy water cooling system to work.

The "analogical reasoning " is good but.
ddr on pc aren't the same as video memory that manage to get higher clock speed.
And let's figure out that ddr1 "128bits or 256bits on VC" is not the ddr1 64bits that you
refer (PC one) Here i'm talking about double data rate 2 chip that are implement on the new ati
9800pro build buy gigabyte.

I'm sure that i can't say that ddr2 are cheap technologies, the comment is i relavenent.
Staying in the video card field will help allot to thank you.

Al thought i found out this web site that show a little review of the card ddr2 256bits card
http://tw.giga-byte.com/VGA/FileList/OtherFile/award_20031030_r98p256d_windows_webpage.htm

And by that i can say that my card perform almost the same as the gigabyte one... witch mean to me
that a spare 300$ whit an original ati 9800pro card...
That's my point.

Here's my score.

Plus who got a better CPU score???
And what's are your setting in your bios?
And what's your extra cooling if so?

EEEK!

:O

:/

;)

Um okay. I still think you might find that for that money you might be better off going for a more
up to date card than a 9800 pro rather than paying out for faster memory on an older card.

Hmm ok but i my opinion it was just to get some inofrmation pon how big the card was whit the ddr2
memory. + i found out that ddr2 or 3 will not do any difference in my piont of view it''s just a
another markethint traps for rich people's but it the ddr2 and 3 technoligy would better benifit on
a operating system whitch 3.2ghz is very low for gaming and so. And if i go further, i would say
that VC will be for the next future inplemented in the motherbard. Or will be reduce to a big chip
"replacable for upgrade) that will posses all the technology in dx9.xyz and opengl 1.4 1.5 23456...

hmmm dreaming, Realy????
