'To' suggestion deletion

Outlook XP:

After typing certain matching characters in the 'To' field I get
suggestions for email addresses which are completely outdated
(old addresses). Often by accident I then use these ones...

So does anybody know where they are stored so that I can delete
these history lists?

Look for a .nk2 file on your system. Also, you can turn
the "auto complete" off from Tools/Options - E-mail
options - Advanced e-mail options - uncheck "Automatic
name checking".

Use the arrows to select the address, then Del to remove it. You can search
for *.NK2 and delete it if you want to start with a fresh list.

Sue,

I could not find a *.nk2 file but at least your
suggestion (Tools/Options - E-mail options -
Advanced e-mail options) revealed a checkbox with
'Suggest names while completing To, CC and BCC fields'
which helps.

Nevertheless I still curious where these 'lookup'
names are stored ...

Now I found it! Previously I haven't checked to look in 'hidden
files/folders' )
