I have windows XP (home edition) I want the modem to disconnect when on
line after a specified number of minutes of inactivity.
Control Panel>phone and modem options>modems tab>click modem.then
properties>click advance tab>then change default references.

When I get to the menu for where the change default references check box
is I find that the I cannot check the box because it is greyed
out/inactive My question How do I get that check box active so that I
can tick the box, and select the disconnection of the modem after
specified number of minutes of inactivity of the modem ?????

When you get to this page, are you able to check the box next to "Disconnect
a call if idle for more than" --- mins? When you check the box, then you
are able to change the amount of time in the box.

No - because that line is greyed (grayed) out and will not allow any
interaction. I need to be able to re-activate it in someway
Evidently the present default only allows the line: "cancel the line if
not connected within ---- secs"
