to set folders to open in "list"

I'm sure this marks me as a newbie, but I can't find the control to set
my folders to always open in the "list" format -- they always want to
open as icons. It's a small annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.
anybody?
 
Hi

Open Windows Explorer and enable View>List - then go to Tools>Folder
Options>View and click on 'Apply to All Folders'. Restart Windows Explorer

Open a folder.(Any Folder)
Choose the view you want, e.g. List
Choose Tools > Options > View tab and click on "Apply to all folders" button.
