To Rehan - Metacreations effects

Rehan, or others if they know....

Ok, pretend you are talking to a backward child here (LOL) and tell me
EXACTLY what to do to try and get the Metacreations effects working on my
MCE machine. I know it has to do with disabling codecs, and I have the codec
checkup program but it only lists three codecs. Since Nero is on that
machine, I have a feeling its missing something.

I can network two computers across oceans but this codec thing throws me!LOL

I think I'm supposed to use the checkup utility to see what codecs are on
the machine, then disable some and see if it works. How do I disable them if
the checkup util isn't finding them? What is the possiblity I mess up other
programs on my computer by disabling them?

Am I anywhere close? LOL

Sorry to know you ran into trouble with these transitions.

Have you selected (disabled) all codecs listed in the
Tools->Options->Compatibility ?

When it crashes does the crash report hint at any codec in particular?

I tried disabling all the codecs but it didn't help. The crash report lists
only major dlls, no codec in particular.

Oh well, it was worth try.

You disable ALL the codecs in that listing? Am I on the right track?

Yes, thats how it is supposed to work. You need to identify which codec it
is by selecting all and unselecting one by one or the other way round.

I would look closely on this list and identify any non-micorosft DLLs.
Afterwards its again an exhaustive search by temporarily renaming those DLLs
and identifying which one is interfering.
