to record onto a writable disc, receive this message...

"There is no disc in drive". running Windows Home Edition SP1.
Have deleted higher & Lower in registery.
The recording tab enabled.
Can play the discs for pictures and text.
Have no other third party burners.
Please can you help? Thanks.
 
Make sure that the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is set to Manual and
running.

Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service |
Set Startup type to Manual | Click Apply | Click the Start button
to start the service | Click OK when it starts | Close Services

You've multiposted this in several places. Next time, keep it all in one
thread in one newsgroup. See this link for explanation:

I answered you with the suggestion that since you've apparently done
everything software-wise and have been working on this for quite a
while, just swap the drive out for a known-working one. CD-RW drives
are very inexpensive; I just bought some from geeks.com for less than
$15USD.
