Hello

Is-it possible (and how) to mask it's own adress when you send a mail from
Windows Mail, to forbide an answer ?
If you want to know why, I can only explain it in French.

Cordialement

Marie-Laurence

You can change the email address associated with a given mail account,
but if you have sent email to that person before, a savvy recipient might
be able to associate the originator's IP address with the IP address of
former messages.

Yes, if the recipient doesn't know a lot, but in the US someone with a
warrant can trace it back to you. WinMail will let you falsify your address
in the account properties, but your SMTP server may not accept a false
address.

Hello

But How I do ? What I have to do for my mail account appear in the form :
(e-mail address removed)éponse ?

In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Accounts, select the account, click
on Properties. The first tab that opens is the General tab. In the
section labeled User Information you can change both the displayed
name and the e-mail address.

Thanks, but it doesn't work. In the General tab, I have two areas for
adresses :
* mail address : where I have to put my real addree. otherwise, the mail
doen't go away
* return adress, where I can ut what I want : nepas@repondre

The receiver can see my real address. If he clicks on answer, the adress is
nepas@repondre. But, in my message, in the area from, he has the real
adress....

Marie-Laurence

You indicate that if you put a fake email address in the 'E-mail address'
field, the "mail doesn't go away." I assume by this you mean that
sending fails. Some mail providers are very restrictive, and they require
you to use your real email address. The only solution is to use a
different email provider who will allow you to change the displayed
email address.

You're quite welcome.

I've had formal training in five different languages, so translation
is one of the few skills I have. :-)
