A Aaron Damron Oct 20, 2003 #1 How do you define what programs and processes are started when your computer is turned on?
P Paul B T Hodges Oct 20, 2003 #2 Hey Aaron, How many processes do you have in task manger ? The services.exe and all the svchost.exe processes are services which are controlled through start/run services.msc But its not a good idea to start stopping these unless you know what you are doing. Theres a number of system processes which you have no control over. Some processes may start in the start/all programs/startup group Some may get started by entries in the registry such as those listed under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run You can have a look at what processes in task manger do at http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm Paul

It will pop up what is going to start. You can disabe them all if you want to, requires re-start. SOme you might not want to disable, like firewall or anti-virus. I'm new to puters, but I have figured this out. Hope it helps. GAry
