to make ntfs partition readable

I have a hard disk which is detected by BIOS but not shown
in "My Computer" nor is detected while running OS setup. I
have tried numerous methods that I can count upon but yet
did not succeed. Anyone has idea how to make the hard disk
readable. By the way, the disk is in ntfs format.
 
Check to see that it has a drive letter assigned in Disk Management
 
You may need a partitioning utility to "see" it - boot sector may be bogus?
May have to remove the partion structure and then format it using the
utility. ..... I presume you are trying to install an OS on it and it is
unseen by the install program.
