hi
I have two PC with XP Pro. I use one of them at home and another at work. I want to connect to each other from internet
I have ADSL connect and IP is static

When I try to connect the two pc while on local network they work successful. But I don't know that I can connect inside of internet.

I think , it's posible if I open an i.e. and write public IP and port in address box. Example xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3389

Am I mistake ?

Thanks..

To access my pc at home I simply just use remote desktop
on my pc at work. I dont know if this helps or not. The
only trouble I had is that I have multiple PCs at home so
I had to configure my router to send a port:3389 request
to a specific computer on my network

I configured router to send port 3389 to my pc's static ip. I can ping my public IP but RDC does'nt work...

I was looking for the same answer. I have 3 PCs at one site and 2 at
another. All use XP Pro. I often have to work on the machines and have to
do it by visiting the site. If I could get to them by Remote Desktop it
would make life easier.
I have Fixed IPs and ADSL at both sites and they run 24/7 It would also
make it possible to connect from home as I have also got ADSL and fixed IP
here and an XP Pro OS. It could save me a lot of miles if it were possible.

If my PC IPs in the LAN are 192.255.255.10 to 13 could I use the fixed
internet IP of xxx.xxx.xxx.212:192.255.255.10 to get to a specific machine
through the router? My routers alow dynamic VPN setup. Or is it only
possible to route port 3389 to a specific computer. I have been able to
connect in the past to one machine then set up a Remote desktop on that
machine to another but that is soooo slowwww.. and not always sucessful and
crashes the middle machine after a few minutes.
It must be possible to setup multiple setups? Or is it.

An alternative is to access all of the PCs through a VPN tunnel. The advantage of that is you only
need one port open on the firewall.

Don't specify the portname if it is 3389...

What error are you getting when you try to connect? A timeout or
connection denied?

What happens if you run "telnet ipaddress 3389"?
