Use the timeline view. Enlarge/expand the view using the +(magnifying glass
icon top left of screen). find the titles in the titles overlay row
....right click and choose delete...or left click and hit your delete key.
I think I misled you with the problem. The titles are not on the time line.
The titles are in the Collections drop down. IE titles of projects or clips
saved.
If its just the words (Titles) just right click them and select Delete.
If its the files then navigate to the actual location and right click and
select Delete

And in the drop-down you can't right-click and select delete, right ? I
think I'm with you and, as luck would have it, recently stumbled onto the
solution myself.
Beside the Collections drop-down is a button called "Collections" (I always
thought it was just a label until an errant click....). Hovering over the
Collections button, the Tool Tip gives you a bit of a hint of what you're in
for: "Show or Hide Collections Pane".
Click on it.
The Collections pane will appear. From this pane you can right-click and
Delete all your empty collections.
Summarising: you can't delete Collections from the drop-down, you can only
do it through the Collections pane.
